On the Hill
Wild grasses that grow and bloom randomly on the hills...
Small wild flowers blooming pretty buds amid weeds...
They are intertwined with each other to form a garden.
Weeds are very elated.
A fresh wind blows.
Petals flutter with the flapping of the wings of insects that fly up from time to time, and the garden becomes noisy for a while.
I gently close my eyes and measure the appearance of the ancient nature. The time when all living things were living a healthy life in harmony ~ Sprinkle paint and spend the day as if playing hide-and-seek with hidden wildflowers.

The Garden In White

The Garden in White

It snowed a lot, and the whole world turned white. I wrapped my body and began my journey into the cold coziness.

The seeds spoke, "I will create a beautiful world by blooming red and yellow flowers. The bees will buzz and collect sweet nectar, and the butterflies will fly and dance."

The twigs swayed, "I will reach my branches towards the sky, shake my green leaves, and bring a refreshing wind to the world. All kinds of birds will come and sing cheerful songs."

The shrivelled roots whispered among the withered grass, "I'll dig here and there in the ground and play hide-and-seek with the busy bugs. When the earth turns green and wildflowers bloom, this place will become the Garden of Eden."

I straightened my arms and legs, which had shrunk, and opened the canvas. In this white season, I envisioned a beautiful garden filled with healthy life, as if I were dreaming. My exciting brushstrokes became a dance move without me even realizing it.

The Garden -In May
The Garden - Oh My, Dandelions! From the flowers that bloomed in April,From the freshly sprouted greens on the mountain trail in May,I remember the scent of the first garden, so long ago.Maybe even then, the colorful flowers were so pretty. The fresh air must have been very refreshing.
Let's stop for a moment,Put aside the sorrows of the world,Open our chests wide and breathe the fresh air,Quietly and peacefully.I want each of us to live our own lives and be happy. As always this spring,The yellow dandelions blooming everywhere are so lovely.
Oh dandelion,What a wonder,Making my painting garden with free brush strokes,I miss the first garden of long long time ago.
Garden a22 Series -This year, I am drawing flowers and nature with the hope that the scenery of mountains and fields will still be beautiful. With the severe ordeal of Covid-19 appearing to be coming to an end, there is hope for a brighter future. However, on the other side of the world, a horrendous war is once again affecting people's lives. When will we see true peace and rest? Can we create a world without disease, war, selfishness, and greed, but instead a world filled with love and care for one another? I dream of a peaceful and safe world where nature and humans coexist harmoniously, and we can all enjoy the beauty of nature to our hearts' content. I am grateful for the day when the random blooms of wildflowers in the mountains are peaceful and the refreshing breeze between the forests comes like a gift.
This painting depicts the wildflowers blooming in the wild. Small and pretty flower buds are hidden among the various plants intertwined with each other. The weeds are also thriving. In that freedom, the petals flutter and the fragrance spreads out. I sprayed paint and painted hidden wildflowers as if playing hide and seek.

The Garden - In Dream
Sometimes I find a dandelion blooming between the cracks in the wall behind the back wall, and I am amazed at its vitality. Despite the lack of care, it proudly claims its territory, blooming with bright smiles here and there, regardless of anyone's interest. I can imagine the green gardens and clear rivers of long ago, when they were pure and beautiful. Will we be able to restore the gray and polluted environment that is getting worse day by day? From the casual blooms of dandelions, I hope for a future earth garden that will be refreshed with green leaves again. The mountains and hills will sing, and all the trees of the field will clap.Dreaming of that garden when it was beautiful and overflowing with growth and prosperity in the beginning, I filled my exhibition with my dream garden, using rough, bold brushstrokes. I hope that we can work harder to cherish small flowers and cultivate a green garden where life thrives.

ACCIDENTAL
Most of my paintings are expressionistic or abstract, reflecting my current state of mind. I have enjoyed exploring the allure of accidental beauty that arises through my free expressions while working on my "MEMORIES" and "SEASONS" series. This brings me excitement and curiosity about how the work will turn out. The act of surrendering myself to the canvas and capturing my inner thoughts and emotions in real-time is a journey into the world of formative art. These works are experiments that push the boundaries of conventional art forms, exploring the harmonious interactions between colors and movements without a specific subject or material in mind. However, they are not arbitrary or chaotic, but rather, they stem from a conscious attempt to communicate my inner signals to the external world. At times, they may produce noisy and segmented vibrations, yet they also convey a simple and powerful message. As I delve deeper into my art, I find that the relationship between my work and myself is dynamic and evolving, with my creations sometimes leading the way rather than the other way around. I am continuously seeking new avenues to express myself freely and boldly.

 Conveying pleasure
Flowers and nature not only evoke feelings of happiness and joy, but they also inspire artistic expression. My emotions, which are constantly changing in response to the ever-shifting nature around me, make for an ideal subject in my art. I love to capture the natural movements and excitement in my paintings by not simply copying what I see, but instead, letting my body and mind guide my brushstrokes.
The gentle sway of delicate leaves in the wind, the soft whispers of blooming flowers that bring a smile to my face, the rich colors of autumn’s sunshine, the white clouds floating across a brilliant blue sky,and the deep, lush greens of a summer forest taking a deep breath...These moments in nature effortlessly and effortlessly guide my hand as I paint, without needing to think too much. I hope that my paintings, which capture these fleeting and wonderful moments, can spread their beauty and joy like a sweet fragrance.

 Drawing (Heuleum 2019 Beijing Exhibition)
I feel and recognize everything in space and time that surrounds me through ‘Tactile thinking’. It is my cognitive way of absorbing and integrating external stimuli through the all sensory organs of my body. Everything that surrounds me stimulates me as an organic being, regardless of whether it is life or not, even intangibles like winds and smells. My drawing is a secret conversation and a sign of communication with all those organic beings. And, It is to confirm my existence revealed by the interaction with them.

Picture languageI find painting much more of an natural and easier tool through which to express things that I find difficult to do so in words.  For me, painting is an active means of 'self-consideration' to communicate with the world and to define myself. My paintings contain feelings towards the seasons and nature, my emotions such as joy, anger, sorrow and pleasure, and feelings from the past experience. Oftentimes, manifestations of passions burning in me towards society and religious aspirations have nudged me to paint as well.  And, I utilize nature, city, house, object, people, and sometimes in non-formal forms in order to reveal them all. To me, painting is silent 'words' and 'language' that make lucid statements of what I am and have. Such a 'Picture Language' of mine provide with a new dialect that exceeds the limit of understanding and interpretation through general language, thus, sometimes, making it rather challenging for both the viewers and the painter herself to comprehend comprehensively.

Speak with a pictureI have pictured it when something special in the structure of a color, shape, or anything of object stimulates something inside me that I do not know. I realized that what I didn't know was the inner longing and desire to express. Through the expression " picture, " I was able to project what I wanted to say inside of me into a visible object and express it in the language of color, shape, form, and any emotional action. Personal considerations of my existence, of my own contradiction and conflict of reality and ideals, my hidden inner aspirations, and of instantaneous mood and unhappiness through painting. It uses colors, lines, and actions to talk in pictorial language. The language of painting communicates with each other in completely different new terms beyond the comprehension and interpretation of general languages It is sometimes people who appreciate paintings, as well as I am hard to understand it myself too.

Painting Play
My paintings generally cling to abstract expressionism. I have been deeply inspired by the eminent works of Willem de Kooning, Joan Mitchell and Cy Twombly for their unhesitating expressions. Intense touches accompanied by free drawings and delicate expressions are represented in my works. They lead me into the realm of unrestrained freedom where a genuine disclosure of my true self is welcomed. It is a kind of performance or an act of play that freely translates the movement of the body onto the canvas according to the flow of inner energy. Through the play of painting, tensions and pressures accumulated in a everyday life are instantly released, and subsequently, fresh catharsis is experienced. The traces of the act are transparently depicted on the paintings and trigger positive communications with those who appreciate the paintings. In addition, the play of painting allows us to get a taste of psychological relocation to the different level of cosmic world from the current visible world, bolstering us to communicate with the unknown world with the experience of a completely new communion.

 Seasonal feeling
Seasonal changes bring a wonder about nature and life. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter! Various scenes, colors, temperatures and weather ....... Each season's impressions are outstanding materials to be painted of, by and for. In the face of the gradual seasonal changes, I instantly get an impetuous desire to express expectations and sorrow, joy and the awe of nature’s beauty and sublimity. In the recurring seasonal greetings, the fresh charm of younger years become more sensuous with its color, taste and smell. My paintings on seasons are indications of a life dwelling within the nature along with its minuet tune in the corner of the nature.
spring! The haphazard waves of spring marches through the frozen earth and air, melting my hardened body and mind and excites me with joy. My canvas was dancing with the waves of that spring, and my heart had already been occupied by a procession of light-green little leaves and still spring flowers. Finally I put myself in the canvas.
Note 2018 - Memories series
I often capture past experiences and events as certain feelings and expressions. Those memories are first recorded sensibly by the senses of my body, 'the flesh' that Merleau-Ponty calls 'the body'. Such things respond to my perceptions such as my values, emotions, and thinking systems, they are transformed into emotional feelings and energy and eventually stored in my inner consciousness. What appears in the inner consciousness is a state of mind, so it has the nowness and the immediacy. And they are recreated as new images, as past stories, events, emotions and actions are created, overlapped and become extinct as time goes by.Those images suggest numerous stories, many acts, various events. Images reproduced from memories represent with the irregular shapes such as waves, changes in the intensity of energy, and multiple overlapping impressions. They offer an experience of impromptu and emotional dynamics. The traces of my gestures recorded on the canvas, revealing the "flesh" of existence out of the world, delving back into them.
It is a highly intriguing act to transfer those memories onto paintings as a recollection of past reminiscences.Past memories and emotions that have accumulated in life become distorted and transformed over time, and the faint memories of very distant days are very refracted by numerous strata of variation, but only traces of pure emotion remain, making up another layer of memory. I followed the traces left by the past, and recorded on a canvas, the honest feelings and emotions of the moment just created.

Every year, when spring days are full of bright pink cherry blossoms, Just like the petals flying around, the mind flies with excitement and My mind urge me to go to see the flowers. In the spring of 2017, I went to look around flowers along with cherry blossoms, but I felt differently than in the past. The buds looked especially red, as if drop of blood forms on the buds.Slender surgeries in the center of the petal seemed to have scattered blood droplets gradually along the lines of each small head.As if trying to convey the painful feelings and anger of the vulnerable who can not say that they are too painful and resentful. This spring, my heart was sore, and I painted many of those injuries and bitter feelings in cherry blossoms.

"Spring 2017 was a tumultuous period of political and social turmoil. So, the yellow flowers in this spring brought about the illusion that they might have bloomed with a message unlike any other year. The yellow colors spewing from the hills and the mountains, seemed to bloom with the ribbon of a yellow handkerchief, a promise of waiting. It's like the shaking of a yellow ribbon attached to a tree branch by those eager to return. There are candles in Gwanghwamun Square and so are the yellow ribbons ...Forsythia flowers are only yellow without blending any other color.I painted a few pictures in the series <Yellow Ribbons> with a message from the forsythia flowers this spring about the pain of the period and the many waiting, pain and hope, scars and healing this spring. While drawing i experienced deep anger and pain, and desired healing and hope that covered the pain. The complex situations that caused political and social pains in the spring of 2017, as well as the times of personal misery and hardship and all sorts of misconceptions in the mind, are the times of confusion, but the promise of the ending will be restored, I expressed the message of hope with yellow ribbons. The work <Yellow Ribbons (Pains)> is a painting of the story of pain and hope. It is a mixture of acrylic paints and putty, which are blunt, rough texture and drawing, and dark and heavy colors. And depicts the state of memory and conflicts, and the psychological situation, with drawings of large and small colors between layers.<Yellow Ribbons (Desires)>, depicts complex journeys of life, psychological conflicts, and hopes in drawings of diverse lines of light in a thick material. In the work process, most of the improvisational expressions are based on the depth, kind, and speed of emotions that are emerging at the moment, and they experience real healing and emancipation during work because they use instant emotional actions.

Note 2016  -  Sunflower series
The sunflower that resembles the sun is an annual plant belonging to the Asteraceae family, and the flower is a radiate capitulum, with dozens of small flowers gathered. There is a phototropism that the flower is pointing in the direction of the sun, and it moves to the east and west according to the sunlight in the young period until the stem grows thick. One autumn day I saw a tall sunflower standing on the road along the way. As they followed the sun, they seemed to become a heavy body and head.It was impressive that the enthusiasm of pursuing the sun in the childhood of sunflower seemed to be a desire for prayer with his head bowed.Would it be like the sun eager for the sun? I have portrayed the feelings of sunflowers, such as moments of joy, anger, happiness, prayer, stubbornness, irritability, etc., experienced during the course of life.
Note 2015  - Market Street SeriesThese paintings of cityscapes show various color-shades one might find from the shops and markets on the street corners and back streets of the big cities. Although the dazzling colors of the signboards of market stores look somewhat disordered in a grey city, the painting captures a friendly moment that those colors bring about in the modern city where colors are losing their hues. The external world sensed through sight is reconstructed with impromptu action in various shapes and colors, with various sensory variations through internal transformation by stimulation given by color and irregular forms. This is an oil painting where rough touches of brush and knife are freely expressed accoring to the improvisational sensivitiy. It is rather a painting-as-a-play in that I expresse the liveliness of the market and streets with the nimble strokes as freely as my mind and the brush move on the canvas. I wanted to share the warm, bright and positive energies through series of work. I would like to feel  the warmth, warm feelings, and dynamism of life that can find in everyday small life through my paintings with the people who appreciate painting.
Note 2014  -  "Listen to flowers ... ... . "      - 5th solo exhibition Expressing and painting flowers in a vase is happy and exciting thing to hear and feel not only the sound of flowers whispering, but also the sound of the mind of the person who arranges them in. The infinite freedom and joyfulness that comes from the response to the sounds in the flowers and transforming them into various colors, rhythms and shapes, makes them immerse into a very happy world while drawing. This exhibition responds to various sounds from flowers in vases. It is not just a description of flowers, but trembling and free feeling, temperance and temperance, cheerfulness and shrinkage, whispering, ugliness and beauty ....... And so on.Throughout my preparation for this exhibition, I enjoyed a happy healing time expressing colors and gestural  languages restructured in my mind with flowers.
